Parker is eleven years old - a fifteen pound Yorkshire Terrier. His human was moving into an assisted living facility and she couldn’t take him along. Unfortunately, prior to this situation, it seems her hyperactive grandchildren terrorized Parker during the time he lived with the old woman. Parker attacked by a 100-pound Doberman when he was only one year old. He has an indented area where he was almost bitten in half at his hip/waist area. The Doberman held on and shook him like a rag. Frankly, it’s amazing that he survived the subsequent injuries. It reminds one of a shark bite. Parker has intermittent bad moods that include growling, snapping, and hypersensitive reactions to certain experiences. Most people wouldn’t want to be bothered, but he is actually a real sweetheart - even smiling when he’s happy. Parker hangs with a variety of dogs, his favorite thing to do is referee their wrestling matches (when he’s not digging holes, of course!) ) between the “big dogs” like Juneau and Cinnamon, Dakota and Larry, or Kathy and Becca. Basically, Parker barks continuously while circling their matches. Fortunately, he’s not aggressive or irritating to the dogs and his “refereeing” is indulged by all of them. He loves riding in automobiles and can’t be kept out of the creek and ponds here at the sanctuary. When picked up, he sometimes growls in a quasi-ferocious way. It seems to be more of a habit than an actual warning because as time goes by, he does it less and less. Maybe he forgets to do it or maybe he likes the sound of his own voice. Regardless, his “complaints”are duly noted so that he never feels ignored.
