Don't Choose Breed Solely for It's Looks

-to grasp at beautiful shadows is to lose substance-

Yes, we dogs are a beautiful species.  Like humans, we are varied in the way we look, in our temperaments and with our genetic health issues.  But we dogs don’t care about all that.  We love you regardless of how you look, act or feel.  Speaking as a dog, I have a responsibility to remind you to carefully and thoughtfully research any breed you are interested in.  Ask your veterinarian or contact the “KC ( “merican Kennel Club ) to help you discern “ breed versus lifestyle” decisions.  Otherwise, you will likely choose a breed that is completely wrong for you and you’ll both suffer for it. We’ve rescued too many dogs to count because of non-researched choices.  Like the Vizla. Like the Boxer.  Like the Chihuahua.  Like the Saint Bernard.  Like the Beagle.  I could go on but you get the picture.    If you are well acquainted with the breed you want to adopt, may I suggest that you go to petfinder.com to search for it?  At that site, you can access specific breeds and their availability in your geographic area.  You’ll be amazed by how many pure breeds are waiting to be adopted from their various rescue groups or foster homes.  Don’t forget to check with your local animal control facility, too.    BEWARE OF SO CALLED CKC A BREEDERS”!! If you must “buy” a animal, only do so from an established breeder endorsed by the “KC. The CKC people only exist because the “KC will not allow them to be affiliated with their organization.  The “KC maintains a high set of standards which the CKC can’t even begin to meet.  In the world of ethical and truly refined “KC dog breeders , the CKC people are considered “puppy mill” perpetrators.  They’re only in it to make cold cash instead of protecting the bloodline of the breed they’re shilling.  The upper echelon breeder isn’t in it for the money.  They’ll be the first to tell you is that rather than making money, you spend money when legitimately breeding your animals.  Their dogs are their passion whose preservation is a mission, not some inanimate product to sell!
